When we returned from Costa Rica in mid-February, it was freezing. Our surroundings were covered in ice and snow everywhere, and bone-chilling winds every day. It certainly didn’t feel pleasant. However, before we set out for Costa Rica, we had tossed around some plans for a cross-country van trip involving various levels of family, friends, and plenty of adventure.
The main goal of the trip was to visit our son Michael in Lake Tahoe. However, as we began exploring potential dates and time frames, a few additional opportunities lined up. First, we could visit Kathryn’s sister in Indiana. After that, I would travel solo to attend a professional disc golf tournament in Texas.
Following the tournament, I planned to pick up nephew Joshua in Phoenix and head to Las Vegas, where we’d be joined by son Michael for a Bruins hockey game. Then, for the final westward leg of the trip, Michael and I would make our way to Lake Tahoe, where the seed idea for this trip originated. It seems to make sense, then, to publish a blog entry for each leg of the trip.
